THE MEDICAL SERVICE CENTRE is a registered national-level socio-medical non-profit voluntary organisation comprising of all people related with health, i.e. all systems of medical practice and all categories of health personnel, to stand by the people in times of disaster, distress and deprivation of health.

This unique organisation learned to rally all who are concerned with the health of the people on the anvil of medical ethics as a part of the ongoing social struggle, the point of unity being to uphold and protect the right of the people to health as a fundamental right.

What sets the M S C apart is its ideology and line of thought for elevating the plight of ailing millions. The relation they have developed with our brethren who create wealth, the masses, made them see and empathise with their endless suffering. The M S C moreover strives to inculcate the life struggles of the pioneers and stand as a beacon to combat erosion of ethics, decadent individualism and commercialisation of health and education.

 Role of Voluntary Health Organisation

In spite of very important service rendered by the large number of voluntary health organisations throughout the country, the solution of the health problem of the country is far beyond even their combined capacity, as it requires a total outlook, centralised planning, priority in plan outlay and extensive infrastructure which is only possible by the government. Health being a basic right is the responsibility of the government. We believe not in charity and magnanimity, since, as Dr. Bethune said, “Charity debases the donor and debauches the recipient.” It is our duty and responsibility to the masses to make them health conscious, to inculcate the professional ethics and morality, and, to keep alive the pro-people attitude, embark upon voluntary services. Employing specialists, spinning personal gains out of funds provided by funding agencies is not a voluntary work. Implementing plans and policies of governments and corporate funding agencies, supplying ground data to them is contrary to the voluntary spirit. It destroys the rights of the people. Voluntary health organisations should actively participate, propagate and launch movements against wrong health related policies of governments to aid in formulating scientific and pro-people policies and methods of best implementation. They should regularly interact among themselves.
